Launches for Youth Week!!

The NSW Youth Week Launch will be at the Youth Stage (Big Top Amphitheatre) at the Sydney Royal Easter Show on Wednesday 2 April from 5:15pm. Top performers will be there!! Check out the Youth Stage

The Australian Government National Youth Week Launch went LIVE on Video Hits on Saturday 5th of April. There was a free concert conducted in Martin Place, and a wonderful time was had by all who attended. Check out the Gallery of this Video Hits launch here!

YouthRock

YouthRock 2008YouthRock 2008 is back for a 20th year and is giving young, local talent the opportunity to showcase their music to the very best judges in the industry. 

YouthRock is being held from 16th-20th April at Sutherland Entertainment Centre with support from Arrive Alive and National Youth Week. 

Past YouthRock winners include SilverChair and other artists including Alex Lloyd, Quirk who were recently chosen to support the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Sony Stevanovic who plays guitar for Enrique Iglesias

Congratulations to Bleached Academyfrom  Lucas Heights Community School, the Winner of the YouthRock for 2008. They were presented with 1st Place and "Tyler's Riot" Award. 

 

Rock the Royal Easter Show Challenge!


We have a Winner in the Rock the Royal Easter Show Challenge. 

Congratulations to PokerFace from Kempsey, the mighty winners of the Rock The Royal Easter Show challenge. Judges were blown away by their talent and the effort they made with their application. 

PokerFace performed on Friday 28th March at the Easter show and organisers were amazed by their energy, enthusiasm and professionalism on stage.



 

Youth Stage, Royal Easter Show

YouthStagePosterThe Youth Stage at the 2008 Royal Easter Show will showcase the very best young local talent and overseas acts, including Youth Rock Bands and special appearances from Beyond Empathy artists.

The stage will also be home to the Zimboyz, the hottest acrobatic troupe to hit Australia with  death defying, energy impacted stunts jumping through fire hoops, creating human pyramids and chair balancing – it’s sure to leave you amazed.

Also don’t miss the beat-boxing and master scratching genius of Tom Tom Club whose phenomenal talents include acrobatics, hip hop moves, and pulsating drum beats all colliding together to bring a new sound to your ears.

Don't miss The Hampdens, the amazing three piece band who have recently toured with Missy Higgins and Rob Thomas. Angela's Dish from the central coast will be rockin' out on the stage along side The Vasco Era, one of the best new bands in Australia. Known for their awesome guitar thrashing and intense live shows and show-stoppers Krill with their 80's infused, synth-rock sounds.

Local Mental Health Project Grants

Beyond Bluebeyondblue is making $2000 available toward the cost of a Local Mental Health Project for 14 Councils across NSW.

A panel of young people from across NSW met to review 45 applications for Local Mental Health Projects. Congratulations to the following projects that were successful in attaining funding:

  • Bellingen Shire Council – What’s in Your Headspace
  • Byron Shire Council – Lets go for a Walk
  • Cessnock City Council - Mental Health Workshops
  • Coffs Harbour City Council – Be Well, Be Strong, Be Connected
  • Corowa Shire Council – Youth Week Drama Workshop
  • Deniliquin Council- After the Drought it Always Rains
  • Eurobodalla Shire Council – Aamplify 08
  • Gloucester Shire Council – Gloucester Mental Health Projects
  • Holroyd and Parramatta Council – The Down ‘N’ Up Exhibition
  • Jerilderie Shire Council – Youth Connect Programme
  • Kempsey Shire Council- What’s in Your Head? Let’s Start Talking
  • Marrickville Council – Mental Health Issues for Young People Living with a Parent with a Mental Illness
  • Mid-Western Regional Council – Mental Health Activities
  • Walgett Shire Council- Youth Info Arvo’s
