About the Event:

The Xpozed 4 Youth Art Exhibition is open monday to friday from 10 am till 6pm. (it will close early on 4 April due to local Youth Week Launch).It will showcase a variety of artworks produced by young people who live, work or attend school in the Marrickville Local Government Area.

Paintings, drawings, sculpture, carvings, aerosol art, murals, mosaics, film, postcards, paper mache etc are welcomed from young people aged between 12 and 24.

The exhibition will also have a range of flyers, giveaways and fact sheets about drugs, alcohol, mental health, local sports and recreation clubs, local youth services.

This is a live music and Youth festival event held on Thursday 10th April from 4pm -9pm several bands performing throughout the evening,which include 'SCREAM' band winner,The Silverbeats, Ethix, Live Wire and local DJ - Skeamo. Other performances include hip hop and cultural performances (Capoeira Academy). Various youth activity stalls include airbrush tattooing, balloon sculpting and jewelry making as well as free BBQ and information stalls, inlcuding Hurstville Youth Council's 'Blue' Stall.
Shopfront Theatre will also host a 'Lost Toy' depot.

About the Event:

Hurstville City Library will be exhibiting digital artwork from local high schools in the Hurstville Local Government area which relate to themes of Planet Earth. Digital artwork will be exhibited from Monday 31st April through to Friday 18th April. Entrants are limited to any year 7 - 10 student from a school in the Hurstville Loal Government area. Marrickville Council is holding a day of music stage performances and a SKATE BOARDING COMPETITION for juniors, seniors, girls. The day will begin at 10:00 am and finish at 6:00 pm.

The skating competition will be run by the Sydney and Outer Skate Association and the bands and other performances by the Marrickville Youth Resource Centre, Marrickville Youth Council and supporters. A three hour workshop where participants will learn the art of hip hop. Hip Hop artist Choo Choo will introduce the ideas of “creating a group hook”, “writing a rhyme”, “choosing a beat” and working as a team to record a track. Each workshop member will receive a copy of the track created from the workshop. CuzCo Productions through their workshop programs engage children and young people in creating narratives about their lives through a learning process that uses social and environmental conditions young people experience in their communities.

The secondary supply of alcohol, particularly from parents to young people, is becoming a concern for health services, police, youth services and the community.

This forum will address a number of issues including the fact that it is illegal for adults to supply anyone under the age of 18 with alcohol.

There will be presentations from Paul Dillion ( Drug & Alcohol Research Training Australia), local Police and Young People.

This is a partnership with Community Drug Action Team, Hornsby Shire Council's Youth Services Team, Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service & NSW Police.
